When did you think the testing should start?
To answer that question, think about your personal life?
In which order are you sequencing the 3 following activities
- Analyse the need
- Buy or build the product
- Test the product
In fact most of us will first iterate through 1-3-2, in order words, thnk of what they need, try to find something that might meet their expectations and after this phase of testing decide to acquire to most adapted product
Some will anyway do 3-1-2, i.e. take a new tool and play with it, analyse what they can do with it and then buy it.
Some will do 1-2-3, (which is the classical old waterfall model, well known in any organization)
So what? what do I have to do?
In fact, the nature of the delivery will trigger your approach, like in your personal life. Indeed, are you following the same cycle to build a house and to download a web app? I doubt of it! and therefore, it is the same in a professional environment, you should adapt your approach to the target deliverables.
You will argue that you have already a standard company governance and you are obliged to stick to it, to what I will ask ou the following: How many project you have delivered was successfull from the user and budget perspective?
If you are honest and connected to the ground, I’m quite sure that it will be below 10%.
